  1. README.TXT - Information on installing and using the DataShooter
  2.              program.

  4. Program Description:

  6. DataShooter is a memory resident utility that pops up when you hit the
  7. "hot key" you assign to it.  While the DataShooter is visible, you can 
  8. use the mouse or the cursor keys to "point" to a data item.  DataShooter
  9. will then "shoot" selected fields from the selected item into your DOS
  10. application.
  11.  
  12. For example, you may need to send a letter to one of your sales representatives.
  13. You could search through a file or binder for the address and then type it
  14. into the letter and the envelope.  With DataShooter, you simply hit the 
  15. "hot key", select the salesperson with your mouse, and "click".  DataShooter
  16. will type the person's name and address for you - with no typing errors!

  18. You can use DataShooter with ANY of your DOS based programs that run in 
  19. character mode (accounting packages, wordprocessors, spreadsheets, database
  20. programs, etc.).  This version of DataShooter is NOT compatible with the
  21. WINDOWS graphics based operating system but DOES work quite well with 
  22. Quarterdeck's DESQview windowing system.

  24. DataShooter runs under DOS 3.0 or above.  A hard disk, mouse, and expanded
  25. memory are recommended but NOT required.

  27. Installation:

  29. DO NOT SIMPLY COPY THE FILES TO YOUR DISK.  Place disk1 in either drive
  30. "a" or "b" and then type:  
  31.  
  32. a:install <Enter> (for drive "a") OR
  33. b:install <Enter> (for drive "b").
  34.  
  35. The installation program will check your hard disk(s) to make sure you have
  36. room for DataShooter and then will guide you through the installation.  The 
  37. default directory for DataShooter is "C:\DSHOOTER", but you can rename it if
  38. you desire.

  42. DataShooter has a comprehensive on-line Help system (just press F1 while
  43. DataShooter is visible).  For a printed copy of this information, type the 
  44. following at the DOS prompt:
